Located in Eastern Tennessee and bordering the Cherokee National Forest, there is no shortage of sights and experiences to keep visitors of all ilks entertained. From a surprising amount of llama farms to caverns, waterfalls, and more, here are some of our favorite not-to-miss adventures in and around Parrottsville, TN and Meadow Creek Mountain Ranch.
Trail Riding the Cherokee National Forest
Okay, we might be a little biased. We are horse people here at MCMR after all. But if we do say so ourselves, Meadow Creek Mountain Ranch offers some of the best trail riding in the country.
In fact, it’s not only us at MCMR who say so. The American Endurance Ride Conference recently held their Meadow Creek Mingle ride at MCMR. Hundreds of horse and rider combos of a variety of experience levels hit the trails for this competitive endurance ride. After this successful event, the event organizers told us that our trails were right up there with some of the top competitive trails in the country! While we have plenty of trails for the most experienced endurance riders, there are also an endless variety of beginner friendly terrain, perfect for enjoying the breathtaking views!
Flying High and Riding the Rapids
For the most adventurous guest at MCMR, there is no shortage of opportunities to satisfy your adrenaline addiction. Wildwater – Pigeon River Canopy Tours offers not only whitewater rafting adventures, but also the opportunity to speed down a zipline over a river, and even down next to a water fall.
Located in Hartford, TN, Wildwater – Pigeon River Canopy Tours is located less than 45 minutes from the ranch, and makes for an exciting and adventurous day trip.
Do you love llamas? We know. Who doesn’t? Well, there happen to be a number of llama farms in and around Parrottsville, TN that are open to the public and regularly host llama encounters. You can even combine two of our favorite activities into one – trekking and visiting with llamas – at Smoky Mountain Llama Treks in Cosby, TN – less than an hour from MCMR.
In addition to this favorite of local Yelpers, you can also visit The Wandering Llamas in Mosheim, TN for a day hike with a furry llama companion, or visit Smoky Mountain Deer Farm and Exotic Petting Zoo to pet – you guessed it – llamas, but also a variety of other animals you might not encounter on the day-to-day.
Fishing at Paint Creek Recreation Area
If you’re in the mood for some fresh Rainbow Trout, Paint Creek is your destination of choice. Renowned as a favorite fishing destination in the French Broad River area, the Paint Creek Recreation Area is just over 30 minutes away from the ranch. The area also boasts an opportunity for fly fishing, or fishing for Catfish. In the area, you’ll also find plenty of scenic overlooks, including areas to observe both Kelly and Dudley Falls.
A Wealth of Activities for All Tastes!
These are just a few of our favorite things to do in the area surrounding Meadow Creek Mountain Ranch, but it is by no means an exhaustive list! There are an unlimited number of things to do in the area.
